The Zoo lies as a part of the larger Mezapark, and in general the neighborhood around there is quite upscale, I would say. I would actually consider taking the 1-2 hour walk back downtown just for fun, but with a child in tow, the No 11 tram was quite OK. You pay 0.60 euro per grownup onboard, cash or card.
The Laima Chocolate factory museum was quite small but quite OK if you haven't visited one before, but to be honest the one in Sapporo is five times bigger and better. The Laima museum is more like a short but perfect introduction before you go to the store next door and buy lots of nicely priced chocolate.
Look! It is Nemo!
"Bee hives" for single bees.
This Crane was super aggressive, protecting its child from onlookers.
Dark Cocoa drinks - delicious!
And make your own chocolate bar in this machine.
National Science Academy of Latvia. Made me think of Ghostbusters...
Automatic gun in gold as a lamp foot. Real tasteful. ;-)
Red bananas
Chocolate from the Laima store. Lingonberry, "Balsam", and more. Yummy!
Passports for the Chocolate factory, and one of the bars.
