Kpop: The Koxx - Trojan Horse, By The Way & Echo

I just realized it is already almost four years since I wrote about The Koxx (so way back that I still was writing in Swedish...). Water has flown below the bridges, but they still have their great sound. Just compare the three videos from below (Trojan Horse beeing the newest), and it should be hard to miss the quality permeating their music regardless of the sound and style they choose.

Kpop: 9 Muses A (나인뮤지스A)

The group 9 Muses having lost Minha and Euaerin this summer, label Star Empire still moved forward with the sub-group 9 Muses A (as in Amuse) debut. The video is quite OK, but it really doesn't add anything to what 9 Muses already does, in my opinion.

Kpop: Jaeney (재니) - Tell Me Why

The emotional single of Korean Jaeney is a touching song about the forces binding lovers and ex-lovers together, symbolized effectfully by a fully Italian production.

Kpop: Laboum - Shooting Love (푱푱)

Laboum has been slowly building up a backlog of good and distinctly kpop-colorful videos, the best being "What About You" and "Aalow Aalow". They also have their share of bland songs, but the new Shooting Love is more of the first kind, having a nice video concept together with a working song. This is a schoolbook example of a (good) classic kpop video.

Jpop: Reol (れをる)

Invisible, unpictured utaite Reol, behind numerous vocaloid and other cover hits, got a record contract and so it is suprisingly great that her debut video both is possibly one of her best but also allows us to see her in person in a Lady Gagaesque moment.

Kpop: Yuri & Seohyun - Secret

"Secret" is basically a CF for hair brand Panthene, but again reminds me how good it is to be a kpop fan when you get this kind of videos paid for. Yuri and Seohyun from Girl's Generation shows of their star charisma in a glassy case for superb hair. ;-)

Jpop: Yumemiru Adolescence (夢みるアドレセンス)

I will say that most of what Yumemiru Adolescence has produced is neither unique nor exceedingly good, although charming and above average. No what makes me want to mention them is their latest "Leadership", which has a nice gimmick going as everything is filmed in a 45 degree angle. This used to the outmost to make it interesting. Combine this with excellent and a bit more restrain in the intensity of deliverance, and you have a jpop video well worth watching.

  • Yumemiru Adolescence - Leadership (リーダーシップ)
  • Yumemiru Adolescence - Tell Me Schrodinger (おしえてシュレディンガー)
  • Yumemiru Adolescence - Fantastic Parade (ファンタスティックパレード)
  • Yumemiru Adolescence - Dance Gene! (舞いジェネ!)
