Kpop: Gavy NJ - Shubirubirub (슈비루비룹)

It has been a while since I last wrote about Gavy NJ, as they have been trawling along with songs that didn't do it for me. With the new single with the onomatopoeic name "Shubirubirub", it is a slight turn for the cutesy for the trio in their latest song, but the refrain is really just right so it is a thumbs up for me.

Kpop: Gfriend (여자친구)

I have seen Gfriend some singles but it was with "Rough" (a kind of ironic name) that it clikced - they are really noticable for looking "innocent" and cute, and even discounting the many groups going for a sexy image nowadays, that is quite a feat in kpop. The music isn't really much to write home about, this is all about fan service for the same guys and girls who loves certain kinds of manga and anime (which I honestly don't). It feels a bit to regressive, but I believe Gfriend have a large number of potential fans so go for it.

Jpop: Towa Tei - Luv Pandemic

I like Towa Tei's own brand of electronic music, this is the new single "Luv Pandemic" from the new album "Cute" that's released on July 29th. As usual he has lots of guest stars and cooperations when creating musi, read more at Arama Japan.

Kpop: High4 (하이포)

While many debuting boy groups go for at least a little coolness, new 2014 debuts High4 certainly hasn't done it, instead starting of with cute and bet very much likable "duets" with established female kpop singers like Lim Kim and IU, but their own "Headache" was certainly not a pain either. If you don't find pastell colors, smiling boys and sweet retro vibes from the music. Yes, the kind of almost funky sounds from Headache (in a typical kpop take) was surprisingly well done.

Kpop: Queen B'z - Pippi (삐삐)

Well, as a Swede, in the end I really had to write about this as Korean pop girls Queen B'z takes their inpsiration from Swedish Pippi Longstocking in the rakish and fun styled video. It is rather interesting to see a rookie group go from cool and sexy (in their vampire themed debut "Bad") to childish and cute in their next concept. But why not?

Kpop: Strawberry Milk (딸기우유)

It had to happen - Chrome Entertainment cashing in on the cute twins ChoA and Way in Crayon Pop and debut them as an even cuter sub-unit. Viola! Here is Strawberry Milk with their debut "Ok". Visually the video is on par with the average Orange Caramel offering, but the music is just - enervating and I would never contemplate listening to it on its own. I even had a hard time keeping the sound on. Too bad, but let's hope this means the good stuff is saved for Crayon Pop?
