Kpop: Big Bang - Bang Bang Bang (뱅뱅뱅)

Last week I said to a younger kpop fan that Big Bang's career is probably mostly over, at least in regards to new hits like the ones you saw some years ago (like "Fantastic Baby"). The new songs that was released in May very much confirmed this as they was polished and slightly interesting but not hit material. But with the new "Big Bang Bang" I may have been proved wrong, as "Bang Bang Bang" is full of that energy and more than that, synergy between the members. They use each other strengths and character to make a great video and song that is pretty damn close to the classic Big bang hits!

Kpop: High4 (하이포)

While many debuting boy groups go for at least a little coolness, new 2014 debuts High4 certainly hasn't done it, instead starting of with cute and bet very much likable "duets" with established female kpop singers like Lim Kim and IU, but their own "Headache" was certainly not a pain either. If you don't find pastell colors, smiling boys and sweet retro vibes from the music. Yes, the kind of almost funky sounds from Headache (in a typical kpop take) was surprisingly well done.

• High4 & IU - Not Sping, Love or Cherry Blossoms (봄,사랑,벚꽃 말고)

Kpop: Turan (투란)

Although I may agree with allkpop that for a debut track, Turan's debut track may not promise they will last that long in the cut throat kpop business, it does got some distinguising features. Both the band name (if it relates to the Turan asian steppes) and the instruments and rhythms implies an middle eastern vibe that isnt that usual in kpop. This may turn into something interesting if they evolve the theme and it's just not a random gimmick.

Just had to mention this, apropos Turan not having enough company backing: it's a bad sign when their Starpro Entertainment not even got the dough to fix their logo so that the word processor gap between T and A is removed. I did this in five minutes in Paint... :
