Kpop: Gavy NJ - Shubirubirub (슈비루비룹)

It has been a while since I last wrote about Gavy NJ, as they have been trawling along with songs that didn't do it for me. With the new single with the onomatopoeic name "Shubirubirub", it is a slight turn for the cutesy for the trio in their latest song, but the refrain is really just right so it is a thumbs up for me.

Kpop: Berry Good (베리굿)

If you are going to do sweet and pretty in kpop you better do it good because this is the number one style of especially female groups especially at the start of their career. This is why Berry Good have been very much under my radar so far, delivering a well polished but still rather thame aegyo (korean for sweet, like the japanese kawaii). This ends mostly with Angel which has that extra personality and quality that makes it stands out. They still would do even better I think if they dared step outside the sugary niche but hey if it works why break it?

Kpop: Girl's Day - Darling (달링)

Girl's Day will with all certainty have one of my top songs this year, but it will not be with the new "Darling", but with the early january release "Something". Darling is a trip backwards for Girl's Day, as they exchange the sexy concept for the traditional aegyo (cute) theme. This isn't bad in itself, but it is combined with a song that really isn't that exciting in any way, just…standard pretty-girl-group fare. The four members of Girl's Day do what they can with the music they are given, like good actors with a bad script, so if you are a fan of them, this is still worth your while.

Kpop/Jpop: SNSD/Girl's Generation - Beep Beep

And finally...here is the full version of the Japanese single "Beep Beep" from (Korean supergroup) SNSD/Girl's generation. My 95%-correct theorem that kpop groups releases sub-par songs in Japan still holds (whatever other people may say), but this one is at least OK and all the cuteness makes me give it a chance.
