Jpop: Urbangarde - Kuchibiru Democracy (くちびるデモクラシー)




The japanese avantgarde group Urbangarde returns with a video abot war and democracy, with red and black as dominant colors. This is the lead track for their upcoming album Showa 90 Nen, and this song has connections to that name as they in the song are implying that Japan is still stuck in the Showa period that lasted 1926 - 1989 but what they exactly mean is probably meant to be more ambigious. Musically I love the combined guitar and piano solo in the end.

Even though their latest video may be a little more "produced", it retains that alternative and odd style that Urbangarde has had before, with usually rather disjointed songs straggling along with the quartet's artsy videos.
