Jpop: Stereo Japan (ステレオ トウキョウ)

Starting of as two sister groups in 2014 (Stereo Tokyo and Stereo Osaka) they merged into Stereo Japan last year, while continuing doing their jpop version of EDM. The young girl videos so far is a mixture of official videos and more "unofficial" fan videos, and while some of them been interesting (Buddist Bounce is the best example) my weakness for funky sounds make me like "Dancing Again" the most. UPDATE: Dancing Again has an official video. Finally!

Jpop: Nature Danger Gang (ネイチャーデンジャーギャング)

Last year, I shared some of the jpop bands like Riemann mic and Sloth that conciously delves into a more "everyday ugly/vulguar" side of modern japanese pop culture. Nature Danger Gang with a home in fashion-eclectic Shinjuku, Tokyo, is another example of this with a techno sound that would even make some 90s music offenders blush. But I so love this kind of kitsch now and then!

Vietnamese pop: Bigdaddy & Touliver - Check That Bass

One thing I have noticed with the budding pop sound of Vietnam is its penchant for 90s european EDM/techno/eurodisco. It seems this is very popular and Bigdaddy's rap together with Touliver's sounds makes a prime example of this.

Mandopop: Sophia Wang - Fly Fly Fly & Beautiful

There *is* something about thrashy EDM songs that can be quite attractive and Sophia Wang follows up the recent semi-interesting Beautiful with just a heavy beat-techno by giving us "Fly Fly Fly". While listening, why not read a suitably "trashy" article on her complicated  love life?

Kpop: Hitchhiker - 11

In the cathegory irritationg songs / possible internet meme's, we have Hitchhiker's new song/video "11". The korean DJ and hit maker from SM Entertainment are now releasing an album on his song, starting with this song. The video reminds me of all that was bad with the 90s in gaming and music. But still...it's a perfect melody for certain moods and situations. ;-)
Update: A new remix with a new video was released 29th jan 2015. Maybe even crazier than before...

Kpop: f(x) - Red Light

After reading the reviews before watching the new "Red Light" from korean f(x), and after the disappointment of their latest songs, I was so ready to dismiss them. And then I watched the video. Damn, what a video. I have a hard time remembering when I last was so impressed with a kpop video, and they usually are top of the line. It may be one of G Dragon's or Big Bang's Fantastic Baby, but otherwise I must say f(x) has really done it this time. And for once I must say that the audio must take second seat to the visuals and not be judged on their own, as Red Light is an artistic whole. This video will be one of the most memorable of 2014.

Russian pop: Andrey Pankratoff & Dj Fenix - Cosmozoo

I love the suggestive video which does its techno style song in a classic way but without becoming boring. DJ Fenix have done some stuff before but nothing as fun as this.

Mandopop: Yáng Hǎibiāo and Lóng Méizi - Lonely people's sad song

I can't find out much details about the background of the sobng by DJ Yang Haibiao and singer Long Meizi, but it is quite catchy and with an amusing video with a kind of wedding theme.
