Mandopop: Michiyo Ho (何念玆)

I have been folowing with interest the Malaysian collective ("supergroup") called Red People ever since I back in 2014 saw their cover of famous "Xiao Pingo". One of the artists that seems to have been gaining most momentum is Michiyo Ho. Her videos has humor and she really has that extra charisma that is the mark of a good artist; a video paroding North Korea's dictator, a video supporting preventing breast cancer (called 'tits' of course...) and now "Hands up handsome!" which is a reall catchy track about all the beautiful men out in the countryside... ;-)

Kpop: Kim Jaejoong (김재중)

I first wrote about Kim Jaejong (former TVXQ, now JYJ) when he released his excellent video "Mine" as part of his solo debut in 2013. Now he is back with new videos "Love You More" and "Run Away". The later, while visually great, is a sleepy ballad, but "Love You More" is an excellent example of how to push a solo effort in kpop; it is sexy, easy listening that still feels fresh and attentive with a touch of edge in it. In this it reminds me of "Mine", and shows he can deliver on his own too.

Thai pop: Sinchanok Klaitae

Sinchanok Klaitae, or Thankyou Shinsanok, is a newly signed singer for the prominent Thai label Kamikaze which debuts with "Love You More". It is an easygoing pop song that works well as a first introduction.
