Mandopop: Han Lei & Da Bing - Scratch Scratch / Nao Nao (挠挠)

Singer/songwriter Han Lei has partnered up with radio host Da Bing to have a go at trying to make a viral video with their scratching refrain and choreography. I think they may actually have quite a good chance att doing that, as the song is reasonably balanced between being fun and still not too extremely repetitive.

Mandopop: Wang Rong - Chick Chick (小雞小雞)

For me, Wang Rong is known for doing some sexy videos with quite good songs, but this new "Chick Chick" is very much not sexy. On the other hand, it has a good chance of giving her the kind of success a viral hit can give, as it has all the right ingredients for it. It is odd, the refrain is perfectly poised on the borderline between crazy and super irritating, and of course this will become super popular with kids and everyone with some sense of humor. I can't stop playing it at least... ;-)

Jpop: FEMM

The object of japanese based duo FEMM is obviously to strike for a global scene, with all their singing being in english, and the sound is not in the least localized. Wannabe is just great (those lyrics, oh damn I love them), White Noise is slick electronica and Fxxk Boyz Get Money has the potential of a underground hit with all its ironic lyrics and visuals. The final video from the album, Whiplash, a bonebreaker in comparison to what other groups would release as a final single. The girls RiRi and LuLa can become really big. And all these videos in just a few months means their company means serious business.

Kpop: Orange Caramel - Abing Abing (아빙아빙)

Orange Caramel follows up their great "Catallena" with a summer hit called "Abing Abing", which is a cooperation with Icecream/Cake chain Baskin Robbins. You see them everywhere in Korea (and I saw them often in Japan too), and it is a great place to cool down in the hot parts of the year. The song is a no nonsense pop song which is just about relaxing and having fun, to be played on the beach or on a summer party, and as such works quite well. As usual, my favorite trio and Pledis entertainment delivers on the video too, it is just as sweet and delicious as always.
