Mandopop: Hebe Tien / Zhang Xiaoqi - Useless (無用)

Earlier this year, Taiwanese singer Hebe Tien (from S.H.E) released the song "Useless", which was kind of nice. This autumn she went on to participate in the TV-show "Sound of my Dream"(梦想的声音) as one of the judges/teachers. The show is novel for a music show in the sense that it isn't quite a competition as more of an "open" arena where singers are invited. The high point of the first months came last week when Zhang Xiaoqi (张小七) sang "Useless" in a fantastic interpretation that surpassed the original. Not much is known about her, but it is rumored that she works with accounting in her family business, and sings on her free time at the local bar. Anyway, I do hope this is one voice I expect to hear much more of.

Mandopop: Hebe Tien - Fickle (無常)

There is nothing like the sweet voice of Hebe Tien to listen to when you are recuparating from an illness. I love her voice and "Fickle" is no disappointment. The video contains more footage from Iceland, that they used for her "Insignificance" with such success, but this time they have another angle using more warm colors.

Mandopop: Hebe Tien - Forever Love (愛著愛著就永遠)

The new releases of beautiful videos from S.H.E. singer Hebe Tian's new solo album continues. "Love Forever" may rely somewhat more on its lyrics which affects the value for us non-Mandarin speakers, but the song draws me in with its fascinating video where the lyrics uncertainty of if the love will last is depicted well in the forces of pulling and pushing between the two lead characters.

The theme song for the Taiwanese drama "The Patisserie with No Name", sung by Hebe Tien from S.H.E., has now gotten a music video release. Another nice release ( I really loved Insignificance too) from the Taiwanese singer who seems to have a nice solo career in front of her.

Mandopop: Hebe Tien (田馥甄 )

Hebe Tien from Taiwanese trio S.H.E. here sings in hauntingly beatiful "Insignificance", which thankfully enough is also subtitled in english. I usually doesn't like mandopop ballads as they often feel somewhat slow and even boring (sorry!), but the nerve that Tien gives this song makes it something more. And yes, it *was* shot on Iceland... ;-)
