Trip to Korea and Japan: Day 22 - Fish market and Japanese design

(Click here for first day, yesterday and all trips)

Today I visited the world famous fish market Tsukiji, the biggest one in the world where the best fresh fish in Japan is sold and distributed over Tokyo for its discerning inhabitants, be it expert connoisseurs or the family next door. To actually get to see the morning auction, you have to get tickets if I don't remember it wrongly, but in the warrens of streets nearby you can eat your fill of super fresh sushi and sashimi and so on. It is not cheap, but quite affordable if you got the taste for japanese fish cuisine.

Free tasting.

No it is not some kind of minced cabbage, it is really really small fish.

Here the guard stopped me and all tourists from entering before 9 am, and after that it is supposedly nothing much to see. I could actually understand it as the traffic was quite intensive. You would like to have unknown people running around your office either, so I respected that.

These mushrooms must be very tasty as one box of ten often cost 3000 yen (200 SEK/34 USD)

Strolling in high-end Ginza

Cartier had its own gold plaited block

A Strawberry Frappuchino

We saw the Japan premiere of Pacific Rim. It was great (again).

A store dedicated to wood carved presents and toys

Too expensive... *cried a little*

*more crying*

We went to Shibuya again, this time to Loft, which was really close to Tokyo Hands, and much about its soul mate. A really great duo those two stores if you want to buy Japanese everyday design and useful stuff. We both agreed we could have dedicated a whole day to those two stores and a full month pay (at least) each.

Look at all those thermoses! Again that wondrous bento box culture.

And of most things there was such a good variety. Like nice looking backpacks.

Those bowls are made in colored copper wire.

The ones on the right is pork neck slices.
