Kpop: CocoSori (코코소리)

New duo CocoSori starts off with Dark Circles which is a great video if you like stuff like Orange Caramel and som jpop groups does - ie colorful and slightly weird in a cute way. They started of doing cosplay, which also gave them the chance to be the first kpop group to use Atsuko Kudo latex clothes.
The song's theme seems to be about how broccoli can cure dark circles but this theme is taken into a crazy direction by the broccoli being played by a green man giving it a kind of slight romantic undertone which is just great fun, especially as the girls play their roles with great gusto. They seem to have been into some cosplay too, but I'm not a 100% sure. Great start anyway!

Kpop: Kara - Mamma Mia (맘마미아)

After Nicole left Kara last year, speculation was whether the six year-old korean girl group would be disbanded soon, but here they are, with the new member Youngji, and and a fresh song "Mamma Mia". While I honestly don't think Youngji added anything to the group, the new track and the romantic styling (and watch the hair-do's!) makes this a return that speaks everything else but an end to the successful act. I have always liked Kara's easy-going sound and I am happy that they seems to have made the transition well this time.

Movie: One Night Surprise (一夜惊喜)

There is nothing unique about the story or cinematics in One Night Surprise, the production values is like any high-end Hollywood production, and the story is a well told but familiar one about a girl who wakes up pregnant and she has to figure out which of three candidates it is. But. The movie is Chinese, with super star Fan Bingbing in the lead role (and Asian-American Daniel Henney as one of the male leads) and the polished surroundings is not from the usual New York, but city-hubs like Shanghai and Beijing. This is part of a rising prescence of asian movies on the world scene, which is now beginning to affect even Hollywood. With 1,3 billion Chinese just in China, and a growing economy, the potential for movie productions is of course big and the number of high-cost movies per year is increasing quickly.
