Mandopop: Elva Hsiao - Romance Strikes




The return of Elva Hsiao last month with "Shut up and kiss me" was a small disappointment. The video was well produced and nice to look at but somehow the jerky rhythm wasn't so comfortable to listen to in the end. The next single is "Romance Strikes" and it is maybe the one video that I have seen that best lifts Elva's special charisma best, and I actually like her being a little more soft (something I usually find Chinese female singers expressing too much, making videos boring) as it brings out her charm.

Mandopop: Elva Hsiao - Elva Super Girl






Elva Hsiao does the superhero theme with "Elva Super Girl", and its a real fun-fest, a small comic movie in itself. And a touch of irony, I hope. ;-) One can indeed question the double message of female liberation through knowing how to seduce men...but it is an entertaining video.

Mandopop: Elva Hsiao (萧亚轩)







Elva Hsiao is a Taiwanese singer which has done quite a lot of uptempo pop, which isnt that usual in the mandopop genre. (Yees, she has done several ballads too, see those at the end of the list for examples)
