Kpop: Ladies Code - The Rain (더 레인)

After the tradgedies of 2014 the remaining three women of Ladies Code balanced their comeback perfectly  with Galaxy, where they found a darker but emotional tone. They seem to be building on this in "The Rain", a classy and sober video. The song is simplistic but well produced and again I think it suits them well.

Kpop: Ladies Code - Kiss Kiss (키스 키스)

I must say Ladies Code has found their niche, and it hasn't gotten old yet - perky songs and videos that are fun and just a little (pleasingly) quirky. The new "Kiss Kiss" is about that first kiss and the feelings surrounding it, portrayed with lots of charm and funny visual queues connected to this.

Kpop: Ladies Code - So Wonderful

I like Ladies Code as there has been a kind of theme in their videos, some hard to describe quality which has had to do with them not taking the easy way out. All their videos has in some degree been about conflict between woman and man, or conflicts inside women because of men. I'm not saying they are a beacon of feminism, quite the opposite, but at least there has been a kind of bite in their videos. This continues in So Wonderful, as Ladies Code is the first larger kpop act this winter to evolve towards a more sexy concept, instead going for a -in some sense- more traditional storytelling choice. Ironically enough the visual theme is objectification and/or separation, even though it is mutual in the end.

Ladies Code - Hate You

Ladies Code increasingly fascinate me with their videos and songs that has something little extra spice somehow. Its like a taste that doesnt quite attract you at the first go but then after a while you notice yourself coming back for more. Their latest, Pretty Pretty, is especially so, but Hate You has a similar effect and even though I skipped blogging about it at first I feel it is time now. Enjoy their special brand of pretty but interesting kpop.
