French pop: Jonesic

Jonesic debuted last year with the single "Aucune autre" (No other) and from his first full album comes "L'un sans l'autre" (One without the other) which both in name and sound is similar to his debut son, which is not bad as he has a sensual and soulful voice.

Mandpop/Indie: AM444 - Dark Show

Chinese/French indie duo AM444 made one of my favorite Mandarin songs of 2014 with "Détache Toi / Shen Jing Mo Shao". The new "Dark Show" from the new EP Dark Show (KaiGuan/Believe) is similary interesting and with the same distinct unique style.

Mandopop: Esther Liu (劉品言)

Esther Liu (Liu Pinyan) from Taiwanese pop duo Sweety has 'resurfaced' (pun intended) after many years without anything happing, and now through her own record label and efforts. She is singing in french with a video that is suitably matching that with Esther dreamingly moving in water.

French pop: Madeon

Young French electronic pop music wizard Madeon's "Pop culture" is a great piece that noone interested in dance music probably have missed, but to be honest I think much of his songs sound somewhat alike. The new "You're on" is not such a big step either, but I love the sci-fi video. Also, the music is, while predictable, still great.

Vietnames pop: Trang phap (Nguyen Thuy Trang)

Trang Phap is a 25-year old Vietnamese singer that has lived in france (her father was a professor and diplomat) and therefore she speaks and sings in different languages. We have so far seen the different songs from the cutesy "Chocolate" to more serious offers like "Forget me not", and here is now the new "At the top", that is one of the clearest pop songs so far.

French pop: Indila (Adila Sedraïa)

From Indila's latest album Mini World there has three great videos released, where "Dernière Danse" is without a doubt the top of the cream - It has drama and effects worthy of a big sci-fi production combined with wonderful french singing, I get delightful shiver's from this song. Adila, as is her real name, is a modern artist with Indian, Algerian, Cambodian and Egyptian in her veins, which combined with her delightful french singing is the best comment to the politics Le Pen and the likes are pushing for - the best of two (five?) worlds. ;-)

Yelle, a french band which plays electropop, has some really fun videos, from which I find La Musique being my favorite.

Chinese pop: AM444

AM444 consists of singer ChaCha from China and dutch producer Jay. Together with -M- they have remixed the old version and added the french vocals by -M- (Matthieu Chedid). And it is so f--ing cool and international!
