Kpop: Puer Kim (퓨어킴)

Puer Kim is the new debut on the Mystic89 brand, and I the gothic video with its for kpop rather unique sound, is one of the most "American" kpop videos I have seen, and I don't mean in a mainstream sense but this is rather a kind of odd style that for example Nick Cave may do.

Kpop: BoA - Shout It Out

After listening to BoA's new japanese single "Shout It Out" -and watching the video- my thoughts and feelings was of relief. Because the video and the song may not be up there among her best, but somehow it feels lika a kind of step forward as I was getting the feeling she was on the retreat. The 90s retro style may not be the coolest choice in my eyes, but it works well, and the Queen of Kpop feels "alive" again, which I like. Even though I liked Disturbance and accepted the other song of lately, part of her charm was her dancing and energy, which "The Shadow" is the latest example of. So, more of this.

• BoA - Shout It Out

Kpop: Rainbow Blaxx (레인보우 블랙)

As seen in earlier kpop releases this winter, the "sexy" style is being explored to its fullest (?) right now with better (Girl's Day, Dal Shabet) and  not equally good (AoA, Gary) results, but I wonder if not the new Rainbow sub-unit from LOEN Entertainment, Rainbow Blaxx, is maybe an even better example that, like all other choices of styling, it may be both good and bad depending on the aestetical and promotional choices made. Quality shine through, you could say. Rainboq Blaxx debut track is musically neither good or bad, just bland, but the video is just what I'd have to call tacky. To be slightly ironic,  even though it circles around eating, "Cha Cha" is somewhat lacking in the tasteful department. It doesn't add anything to the genre and is easily forgotten.

Ukrainian pop: Anna Sedokova - Heart in Bandages (Сердце в бинтах)

For the first time ever, I recommend anyone visiting my blog to actually first watch another video as a starter. You should start with Anna Sedokova's video "Between Us", which is about a relationship where the idea is of a positive relationship. Then you watch this "Heart in Bandages" which for all purposes is something so unusual in pop as a tie-in to an earlier video. Here the partner spurns Anna who dont want to let go and therefore is abused again and again in a very visual way. The recording used lots of blood and fake body parts, and may be quite explicit at times, but I think depicts how many may feel at the end of relationship.
